Preparing Your Quilt for Quilting:
Tips for a Successful Quilt

Applying Your Borders
How to avoid puckers and waves in your borders:

• Provide at least 10 inches of extra fabric for backing (5" on each side)
• Provide at least 10 inches extra for batting
• Do not trim selvages off or square up the backing – we will do this for you
• If you pieced your backing, make sure you have pieced enough so that the selvage/wording is not visible on the right side of the quilt back
• Iron any seams open

Quilt Top
• Iron your top one last time
• Trim loose threads on the front of your top
• Please trim any "dog ears"
